Here are some of my favorite ChangeThis Manifestos:

From Information to Education - a hard way to go...

Hardwaytogo

"Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful."

Wow...the information age is great isn´t it? The world´s information accessible to you and me - who would have thought about how wonderful life would be with the Internet.

But on the other hand - who cares?!

I do and so do most of my  friends. But when I think about all the people I know those who care are in the minor position.

And why? Simply because it´s too hard.
Yes we Google a bit...buy something at amazon...download music at iTunes and maybe sell something at ebay. For the more advanced users we may spend some time at myspace and check out our emails at yahoo while skyping with friends.. but at the end of the day - the power of the Internet is untapped by most of the people who have Internet access.

Think about all the steps you have to take from Information to Education (knowledge / skillz):

  • first you have to search for information
  • then you have to select the relevant from the irrelevant
  • then you have to consume the information
  • then you should understand it
  • and in the best case you should adopt it and take action

...now that´s too hard of a way to go for most of us.

And that´s why I believe the time is ripe for the education age. Technology can empower people to share their knowledge and wisdom in a way that makes it easy & fun for people to use it. And when I say people - I mean those who don´t read this blog and don´t even know what a freakin blog is. I talk about the "antigeeks". I know them very well - I was one of them!

Supercool School builds entirely on the idea of human interaction and the power of education. And I believe we will see alot of great ideas and websites in the near future who´ll use the information age to go one step further. I hope this will make our way ten steps shorter.

Sidenote: It´s still time to vote for "The Education Age" manifesto - read more about it here.

Afterthought: Ego vs. Purpose
I had the idea to this manifesto for a long time but since I choose to publish it at ChangeThis.com I´m wondering if I should still write it even if it doesn´t get enough votes?

I mean why letting people vote for something if you do it anyway? A manifesto´s purpose is to be read by the people in order to start a discussion and not to be written by the man in order to blow up his ego!

Hmm...you probably just read this words because something in me says I will do it anyway. What do you think?
