Pitch your Startup! No. 1 _ May 24th

This was the first intriguing session with entrepreneurs from Chennai, Paris, Hamburg, San Francisco, New York, Copenhagen, St. Petersburg, Bangalore, Zurich and more. People of every nationality, age and background in one virtual room connected with one spirit: CREATION!

Now tell me, is there anything more powerful than a space where only one thing counts: the essence of changing your environment by creating something new?

I don't want to exaggerate what Startup School is - but this first class certainly gave a hint of what the potential can be.

As the time of one session has its limits I would like to continue the discussion on the pitches online and involve a broader audience into the success of those ideas and companies we heard of today.

I. Chris Knotz (http://voyagesenphotographie.com/) from Paris was the first to speak about an interessting venture that already is very profitable and is now trying to reach out to the the middleclass world by providing their private homes with unique historical spirit. Their product are seldom, high quality photographs from around the globe from between 1839 and 1939. In a way these 25 thousand images carry a pieces of cultural heritage that we will most likely never witness ever again as pure as these unique images captured it. It seems to be a great product give peoples homes identity in a globalizing world.

However, what they need to scale this venture on a global scale is money. Therefore Chris Knotz and "Voyages en Photographie" are currently searching for Angels. II. Second to speak was a young engineering student from Chennai: Kuberan Marimuthu. He has the Idea of a Taxi service in the cloud for India. The components are a GSM localization system, cell phones, taxi drivers, customers and a website. If you want to help Kuberan to bring these parts together and build a company out of it you should get in touch with him. He also posted his contact information in the recording.

III. Now from Chennai's night we made a quick jump to New York where the startup calendarfly (http://www.calendarfly.com/) is currently evolving. The founder Drew Aldrich gave us a brief view into the world of financially challenged schools and clubs and showed us how calendarfly could make the lifes of everybody involved so much easier. Calendarfly is a tool that synchronizes the schedules and tasks of everybody involved in a very elegant way. Ultimately this very cost efficient tool could replace black board & similar companies within educational institutions.

Although there is some competition out there - this venture certainly seems as one of the most promising on the market. Calendarfly is also at a stage where funding is the next step to scale their product. If you are interessted in that matter you can get in touch with Drew via Startup School.

IV. The last of todays "Pitch your Startup!" Event was Steli Efti. He is the founder of Supercool School. Supercool School provides among other also the technological infrastructure for Startup School. The vision of Supercool School is to empower the individual to pursue their personal learning needs with like minded people and build authority around certain fields. Supercool School currently provides a couple marques Silican Valley companies with customized elearning platforms.
